Zapier vs Make (formerly Integromat)

Two of the most popular off-the-shelf no-code systems are Zapier and Make. Both of them allow you to run a software process without running a server yourself. They are great tools for business process automation and we have used both very successfully. Zapier is very user-friendly, but it doesn’t pack the same punch that Make does. Zapier is good for very simple and linear systems, but when you have complex data linkups and data transformations, Zapier starts to fall over. Make on the other hand is slightly more complex to utilise, but if you have an involved process, or need a mini database, Make is amazing. If you’re wondering what to use, swing a line below and we’ll help you out and point you in the right direction.

No-code vs custom developed systems

Ultimately, if you have a complex process which requires a user interface and a database, you will need to custom develop it. No-code systems are a 500g hammer compared to custom developed systems which are a jackammer. Both can get nails in a wall, but it’s much simpler to effectively use that handheld hammer. Conversely, you can get a concrete slab up with a handheld hammer, but for goodness sake just use a jackhammer. For small one off jobs use a no-code system, but for complex tasks use a custom system.
