Where JavaScript is the doing of your website, and CSS is the beauty and design, HTML is the structure. Depending on your platform, HTML can be generated in a myriad ways. From you writing it character by character yourself, through to it being fully generated by your tooling. HTML stands for hyper-text markup language, hypertext because it sounds cool and links pages together, and markup language because it allows you to “markup” your text with formatting and structural elements. The web is built on HTML, and once you get your hands into it you can see why, it’s quite a powerful tool.
