Netlify is a static site hosting platform which has some nifty features to allow your static site to be interactive. Compared to WordPress, Netlify is not a content management system (CMS), instead it allows you to build your own website from scratch (i.e. using HTML, Javascript and CSS), and then host it super easy.
When partnered with Contentful and a static site builder to build out your website content, Netlify really comes into it’s own. Websites with a back end (dynamic sites) can become compromised if an attacker gets access to your login details or finds a loophole in your websites code. The advantage of using a static site hosting platform like Netlify is that you don’t have a back end to worry about; less maintenance, greater security. But, if Netlify themselves become compromised, then there’s an issue.
